Sesalye "Ses" Martin

Funeral Services for Sesalye Marcelle Martin will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017, 1:00 PM at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jeanerette, LA. Rev Arthur L Alexander, Pastor, Rev. Anthony Rice, Officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 8:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service at First Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Sesalye Marcelle Martin was born to Carlton Martin and the late Barbara Jean Green Martin on February 20, 1960. She was affectionately known to her loved ones as "Ses."

Ses attended Jeanerette Senior High School, Class of 1978. She went on to complete a Bachelor's of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology at THE Grambling State University, Class of 1982. Ses became a sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, while at GSU and continued active membership post-graduation in the same chapter as her mother, Iota Eta Omega. Ses was also a proud member of the GSU Alumni Assocation and the Matthew B. Polk Scholarship Foundation.

Ses leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, her daughter, Kaitlyn D. Marks; her father, Carlton Martin; two sisters, Ianthia Joseph (Keith) and Erica Martin; two brothers, Henry E. Tibbs (Bonnie) and Jeffrey K. Martin, Sr. (Carla); 2 nieces, Raylon Joseph (Terry) and Adrian Brown (Paris); four nephews, Marcus Joseph, Kyle Martin, Taylor Martin and Jeffery K. Martin, Jr. (Delilah); one great niece, Alivia Joseph; and three great-nephews, Jaelin and Ethan Martin, and Zaccai Starks; her cousins that she considered as more like sisters, Tierney Greene and Cynthia Greene Alexander (Arthur) and an adopted brother, Willie Lewis; best friends, Judy Thibodeaux, Michael Moncriffe, and Brenda Campbell.

Ses is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Jean Green Martin; sister, Merewyn M. Charles; and brother, Lyndon G. Martin; grandparents, Rebecca Martin and Agnes and Jack Green, Sr.
