Shedrick Sam

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Christ, 604 Sycamore St., Franklin, LA 70538 . Pastor Bobby Newsom will officiate the service.

Shedrick Sam, age 74, a native of Katy, LA and a resident of Franklin, LA, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Legacy Nursing Home in Franklin.

He worked for a well-known newspaper company in Houston, TX for 20 plus years and in retail for over 15 years.

Shedrick is survived by two children, his daughter, LaToya Sam; his son, LeVar Sam (Melissa); and three grandchildren, Dorian J. Sam, Aalayiah Bourgeois, and Ariona Sam. Mr. Sam was married to Sheila Sam for 41 years. He is also survived by six sisters, Alva Mae Burrell, Consuelo (Paul) Jones, Phyllis (Troy) Mitchell, Madeline (Arthur) Edwards, Pamela Sam Casteal, and Zelma Sam, all of Franklin; three brothers, Alfred (Ursula) Sam of Sorrell, Wallace (Lois) Sam of Houston, TX, and Edward Delaune of Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, close family, and friends, Nora, Ted, Travis, and Rebecca Rodrigue, all of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Ophelia Sam; six brothers; his grandparents; and one grandson, Hunter James Sam.
