A Celebration of Life for Shirley Jean Chatman, will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Greater St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, La.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Greater St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, La.

Shirley will be interred at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, La.

Shirley Jean Chatman, 72, of Franklin, La passed away on January 15, 2023 in her home after a brief illness comforted by her niece Patricia Muse and sisters Wilda Howard , Elouise Ardoin and Carolyn Lightfoot whom were caregivers endlessly.

Shirley was born on August 9, 1950 to Alfred and Augustine Weber in Franklin. La. After Shirley graduated from Park Ave High School in 1968. She was employed at Shop-Rite#23 as an Asst. store manager for over 20 years.

Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Covenant Temple in New Iberia , La under the leadership of Dr. W.E. Brown

In 1976, Shirley wed McCastle Chatman and went on to have 4 children, Felicia Carroll (Barry) of Jeanerette, La, McCastle Weber (Denice) of Cartersville, Ga, Byron Chatman (Sherwana) of New Iberia, La, And Torrie Chatman of Bakertown, La, furbaby Layla, 14 grandchildren including her bonus grandson Dwonyell Charles , 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Shirley spent her time gardening, shopping, dining, and worshiping the Lord.

She is survived by her sisters; Elouise Ardoin, Wilda Howard of Bakertown, La and Carolyn Lightfoot of Baldwin,La; brothers Ollie Weber of Charenton, La, Allan Ray Weber (Glenda) of Saint Mary's ,Ga, and Gerald Weber of Franklin, La; brother in law, Nolan Chatman (Leola) of Baldwin, La; sister in law, Mary Carr of Franklin, La; devoted friend Florence Favors.

Shirley was predeceased in death by her husband, McCastle Chatman; her parents, Alfred & Augustine Weber; sisters, Demerit Rideaux, and Pearl Depass; brothers, Ralfrie and Riley Weber.
