A Celebration of Life for Sophia Mae Mallet will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021, 2:00 PM at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA with Bishop Jerry Hebert officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 12:00 Noon until the commencement of the service at MK Dixon Funeral Home, Baldwin, LA.
Ms. Mallet will be interred in St Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Joseph, LA.
Sis. Sophia Mallet was born on March 15, 1947 to the late Clarence Gabriel and Gustavia Washington Kelly of Baldwin, LA. She was raised by Ivory Kelly, Sr. She would tell you in a heartbeat that he was the only dad she knew. She loved her some "DA". Sophia attended Willow Street High School. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Joseph Fields and a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church of Oxford, LA. Then she was later baptized by the late Bishop Marshal Hebert, Jr. of Baldwin Church of God in Christ United. Sophia was a faithful and devoted member and mother of the BCOGICU. She was a licensed Missionary, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the praise team. She was one of the "Prayer Warrior" in the church mission ministry. She was a child of the most high king.
She loved everyone, no one was a stranger. She would do for anyone. She was a very wise lady, who would tell you right from wrong. Anyone that came in contact, she always had a word from the Lord. She was also a babysitter for many.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories; three sons, Karl (Cynthia) Mallet of Baldwin, LA; Eric (Lynette) Mallet of New Orleans, LA; and Shawn Mallet of Franklin, LA; one daughter, Lisa Mallet of Franklin, LA; two children she reared , Janerra Mallet Welch of Houston, TX; and Shawn Verdun of Patterson, LA; a son as her own Kendrick Welch, of Houston, Tx: she had love and compassion for all her grandchildren, three sisters; Eula Marie White and Delores Williams both of Franklin, LA; Tammy (Ronald "Keith") Provost of Baldwin, LA; three brothers, Kenneth Kelly of Baldwin, LA; Billy Robertson of Dallas, TX; and Ronald ("Chip) (Evelyn ) Chillis of Four Corners, LA; one sister-in-law, Carrie Narcisse, Franklin, LA; twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, three godchildren. Jerica Ford of Patterson, LA; Gregory Mitchell of Lafayette, LA; Andrea Navy of Carencro, LA, very close and dears' friends, Sarah Mitchell, Amy Edwards, Evang. Vergie Richards, Elder Linda Sam, Sis. Ethel Lee, Idella Lewis, Sis. Sybil Levy, Sis. Sandy Coney, Mother/Supervisor Gloria Hebert, Sis. Mary Louis Stansberry, Elder Cecelia "Theresa" Hebert, First Lady Georgia Ford, Bishop Arnold Little, First Lady Sharon of COGIC, New Orleans, and Dr. Sheron Seward. A host of nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Gabriel and Gustavia (Ma) Kelly, two sisters, Gustavia "Lil" Kelly, and Ethel Lee Johnson, three brothers, Ivory Kelly, Jr., James Narcisse, and Clarence McBride, one granddaughter, April Charles, six Aunts and four Uncles.
