A Celebration of Life for Sylvina Key, will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, 1:00 PM at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA. Bishop Alvin Davis will officiate the service.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, until the commencement of the celebration at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA.
Sylvina will be interred at Rev. Elijah Emittee Eternal Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
Sylvina White Key was born on March 24, 1940, to the late Burney White and Georgia Sparrow Clay. She was also reared by the late Adam Clay.
Sylvina was married to Roland Alexander and together they had nine children; later in life, she married Alfred Percy Key, Sr., where together, they had a son.
Sylvina was a very dedicated member of First Good Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Apostle Alvin Davis.
She enjoyed watching the game shows, shopping, eating out, and was an excellent cook.
She leaves to cherish her memories her five sons; Roland Alexander, Jr. (Loretha), Lorybort Alexander, Sr. (Nicole), Alfred Alexander, Sr. (Catherine), Marcell Key (Kim), and Alfred Percy Key, Jr. (Janice), all of Jeanerette, LA; four daughters, Cheryl Boutte (Jonathan) of St. Martinville, LA, Myrna Pierre (Ronald) of Charenton, LA, Georgia Alexander (Blair), and Melinda Clavelle (David) of Jeanerette, LA; three brothers, Stanley Clay (Ethel) of Baldwin, LA, Terry Clay (Loraine) of Deridder, LA, Johnny Clay of Port Arthur TX; three sisters, Marjorie Nelle Jacobs (Haden) of Houston, TX, Deloris “Polly” Marks (James) of Jeanerette, LA, Beverly Fadipe (Femi) of Houston, TX; 42 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren, and 35 great-great grandchildren; a special daughter, Denise Teno of Jeanerette, LA, special friends, her dog who lived with her, Doris Key, Camila JeanBatiste, Carolyn Lockett, Joyce Allen, several god-children and her former daughter-in-law, Penny Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burney White, Georgia Sparrow Clay, and Adam Clay; husband, Alfred Percy Key, Sr.; daughters, Gail Jackson, and Mary Alexander; brothers, Harold Clay, and Robert White; sisters, Peggy Sampy, Emily Mae Dalton, and Geraldine Sereal and other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
