Beaumont

A Celebration of Life for Vernon "Boogie" Minix, Sr. will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church 3755 Fannett Rd. Beaumont, TX 77701, Dr. Delbert A. Mack, Sr., Pastor.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church 3755 Fannett Rd. Beaumont, TX 77701.

Vernon will be interred at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.

Mr. Vernon Minix Sr. was born on January 5, 1937 in Crowley, Louisiana to the late Bradley and Nelie Minix. After living in Crowley for a short time, his parents decided to move to Beaumont, Texas.

Boogie attended Caroll Street Elementary School and graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1955. While attending Charlton-Pollard, he courted and later married his high school sweet heart Peggy Jackson Minix. With this great union they were blessed with four children. To be able to provide for his family Boogie became employed at Sampson Steel, where he was an dedicated employee for 30 years. eelers

Boogie accepted Christ at a very young age. As he got older he joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church where he worshiped for years before becoming a charter member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church.

Boogie was a sports fanatic and enjoyed spending his time traveling to support Central High School football and basketball teams. He was also a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Elmira Richard, wife Peggy Jackson Minix, sons Vernon Minix Jr, Reginald Marks, and his daughter Agnes Minix Rawls.

Cherishing his memory are his sons Tommy "T-Ray" Minix, Alfred Minix, and Kevin Marks; grandchildren Shala Rawls, Kala Rawls, Vernisha Minix, Nakia Minix, Kaitlyn Minix, great -grandchildren Bryson Chachere, Aubrey Rawls other family and friends.
