Walter Blanks, Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Walter Blanks, Sr., will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.

Walter will be interred at Sorrel Community Cemetery in Sorrel, La.

Walter Blanks, Sr., a native of Franklin, La, and a resident of Rockdale, TX, was born on January 14, 1942 to the late Elsie James and the late Joseph James, Sr. of Franklin, La. He was one of 15 children.

Growing up and being nurtured in a Christian home, Walter confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Ben Milton, Sr.

Walter leaves to cherish his precious memories to his children; Monica Denise(Farrell) Batts of Converse, TX, Angela Marie(Curtis) Jones of Rockdale, TX, Walter(Lalita) Blanks, Jr. of Round Rock, TX, Antoinette Lenic Blanks of Rockdale, TX, Michael Wayne(Deborah) Blanks of Elgin, TX and Jermaine Walter Brown of Converse, TX; siblings, Letha Blanks, Shirley Blanks, Mary Bourgeoiis, Susie(Warren) Hines, Martha James, Alice James, Michelle (Chucky) Landry, Batiste James all of Franklin, La; fourteen grandchildren, twenty- nine great-grandchildren; four godchildren, Charity Small, Kevin James, Joy James, and Brian Small; devoted nephew, Williams Blanks; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie James and Joseph James, Sr.; daughter, Laura Bourgeois; brothers, Alvin Small, Frank Small, and Daniel "Slim" Blanks; sisters, Emma Johnson, Selena James-Milton, Lillian "Teddy" Blanks; great- grandchildren, Major Blanks, Me'Lynn Blanks, Malaysia Blanks, Lyric Williams, and baby Angel.
