Wanda's journey began with her graduation from Franklin Senior High in the Class of 1979. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at Delta Community College, where she laid the foundation for a lifetime of service.
Her professional career commenced at McIllhenly Inc., but it was her deep-seated calling to serve the community that led her to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff Correctional Facility. Within its walls, she became known as Deputy Jackson, leaving an indelible mark of love and compassion on the lives of many. Her unwavering dedication continued until the day she retired.
In retirement, Wanda discovered new joys, finding fulfillment in part-time work at Super 1 Foods. It was here that she touched the hearts of all she encountered, leaving no stranger in her presence.
Wanda's love extended far and wide, earning her a special place in the hearts of many. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one son, Dovone Jackson and his wife April Jackson, and one granddaughter, Alayah Jackson of Lafayette, Louisiana. She also leaves behind 3 sisters, Gail Jackson, Evangelist Cheryl Jackson, and Tammy Jackson; 2 brothers, Paulfrey (Tracey) Jackson Jr., and Graline Jackson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Paulfrey Jackson Sr. and Rena Bell Jackson, a sister, Debra Ferguson-Smith, and her grandparents. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
