Whybray Shane Jackson, affectionately known to many of us as Dude, was born on November 19, 1975, in Morgan City, LA to Karen Denise Welsh. Whybray attended Sumpter Williams Elementary and M.E. Norman in Morgan City, LA. He played basketball for Guidry's Paint under Coach George Carter. His skills and talent gained him a spot on the All-Star team such allowed him the opportunity to travel. While under the leadership of Coach Carter, they established a rapport that led to the entire Carter family embracing him as their own, especially Derika who treated him like he was her baby brother. Whybray later attended Job Corp where he earned his first trade.
Whybray met and married the love of his life, Tempest Darnell. Whybray and his Nunk, as he affectionately called her, weathered many storms together and always remained on the same team. God blessed them to share 30 years of marriage together. If you know Tempest, you know she loved her husband unconditionally and was with him until the end.
Whybray later began working at L&G Lumber yard as a warehouse manager. Whybray was very knowledgeable about carpentry and often helped a family with handyman tasks.
Those that knew Dude, knew that he loved cleaning his car, riding around town listening to Young Boy, Scareface, BossMan Dlow, Fredo Bang, Lil Boosie, and Finesse 2Tymes. He also loved popping up on family, talking smack, and just enjoying life. Recently, his mom, cousins, Heza and Dale bought slingshots and he was often seen riding one or the other all over town having the time of his life. He really enjoyed riding and did so until his health began to decline.
He also loved taking family trips to Houston to his brother Ben's house. He would be so happy to be with his family. No matter what he went through his illness, he was an influence to his community and did hesitate to share his journey.
Whybray transitioned from his early labor to his heavenly home on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 12:44 P.M. at Oschner St. Mary in Morgan City, LA surrounded by his loving and supportive family.
