Wilfred "Bill" Matthews, Sr

A Celebration of Life for Wilfred Matthews, Sr., will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, 1:00 PM at MK Dixon Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at MK Dixon Funeral Home.

He will be interred in Sorrel Community Cemetery, Sorrel, LA.

Wilfred "Bill" Matthews Sr was born on April 29,1950 to the late Beatrice and Murphy Matthews Sr. He departed this life on August 8, 2020 in California. Bill joined the U.S Navy in 1969 and was later discharged in 1970.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Catherine Matthews, of Jeanerette, LA; six daughters, Kiesa Gray of Minneapolis, MN, Yvette Matthews of New Iberia, LA, Lynette Lewis(Quincy) of New Iberia, LA, Shantell August of Jeanerette, LA, Kiesa Matthews of New Iberia, LA, and Brittany Matthews of Jeanerette, LA; five sons, Wilfred "Billy" Matthews Jr of Four Corners, LA, Quientin Matthews of Jeanerette, LA, Truston Jacobs of St. Martinville, LA, Quincy Matthews of Jeanerette, LA, and Quintrell Matthews of Baton Rouge, LA; four brothers, Freddie Matthews Sr(Marilyn), Ronald Matthews, Charles Matthews(Sherita), and Trent Gilbert; six sisters, Shirley Matthews, Norma Harris(Leopold), Annie "Teenee" Matthews, Seniora Jones(Robert), Celestine Matthews, and Nina Thigpen(Charles), fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Murphy Matthews, Sr and Beatrice Matthews, his son, Keith August, his daughter, Shabata Matthews, grandson, Kohen Lewis, and his five brothers, Murphy Matthews Jr, Donnie Matthews Sr, Wilbert Matthews, and Russell Matthews, Oscar " Topee" Matthews.

He will forever be in everyone who knows him heart and forever loved by his family.
