A Private Cryptside Service will be held for Willie W. Jacko, Jr., a resident of Franklin, LA, who passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Ochsner St. Mary Hospital, in Morgan City, LA.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana to the union of the late Willie "Tommy" Jacko and Alma Joshua Jacko in Charenton, Louisiana. Willie was reared and surrounded by the love of God after being baptized by the late Reverend Johnny Carr at Mt. Pleasant Baptist church. Willie has always had a passion and interest for knowledge and education, taking his education very seriously. His love for learning and knowledge earned him the honor and achievement of being the first Black valedictorian of Franklin High 1957; earning him a full scholarship to the Stanford University, in Stanford, California. At Stanford University Willie achieved a Bachelor of Arts in English Arts. After graduating from Stanford University, he attended University of Louisiana at Lafayette receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching and earning a teaching certificate.
Once receiving his teacher certificate, Willie began his teaching career for St. Mary Parish school system as a math teacher and coach for Franklin Jr. High for over 30 years until he retired in 2015. He passionately did his job and took special interest in influencing and motivating the many students that graced his classroom. On top of his love of education, Willie loved the football team the Dallas Cowboys, and had a passion for cooking, his most proud and talked about dish was the one he named after his beloved daughter, Spaghetti Olveny. Willie attended Lighthouse Missionary Baptist church under the fellowship of Reverend Alan Randall until he fell ill.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories and legacy his only child who he affectionately called "Child of mine" Olveny Nicole Jacko, Grambling, Louisiana. One sister Doris Jacko, Baldwin, Louisiana. One brother Kenneth Jacko, Baldwin, Louisiana. Four nieces: Love (Michael) Stevenson, Gonzales, Louisiana; Precious Lyons, Patterson, Louisiana; Lillian and Jessica Tardy, Baldwin, Louisiana. One nephew and Godson Charvast Edwards, Baldwin, Louisiana. Special friends: Stehanie Tardy Nolan, Barbara Sonja and family, Jasmine and Denver Henry, and Franniee Bowie. And a host of great nieces and nephews, family, friends, and students. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed among those who love and care for him.
Willie is preceded in enteral peace by his parents Willie "Tommy" and Alma Jacko. One sister Debra "Debbie" Lyons. Two nephews: Quawan Charles and Edward James Lyons.
The Jacko family would like to thank the workers of Patterson Healthcare, AMG Specialty Hospital, Oschner St. Mary in Morgan City, and to all who sent love and prayers.
